Welcome Back to the Outdoors: Kicking Off Our Summer Farmers Market Season in Buttonwood Park

There’s something special about the first outdoor market of the season. After months of gathering indoors, we’re stepping back into the sunshine, surrounded by fresh air, vibrant greens, and the unmistakable energy of a community coming back to life. We’re so excited to welcome you back to Buttonwood Park as we kick off our Summer Farmers Market season this May.

The shift from winter to spring always brings a sense of renewal and growth, but at the farmers market, you can truly feel it. The stands are fuller, the colors brighter, and the conversations a little longer. It’s not just about shopping, it’s about reconnecting. With your food, your farmers, and your community.

Why Choosing Local Matters More Than Ever

Every time you choose to shop at the farmers market, you’re making a powerful impact, one that extends far beyond your dinner plate.

1. You’re Supporting Your Local Community

When you buy from local farmers, bakers, and makers, your dollars stay right here in the community. You’re helping small businesses thrive, supporting family farms, and contributing to a more resilient local economy. These are the people who show up week after week, who care deeply about what they grow and create, and who are invested in the health of our community.

2. You’re Getting More Nutrient-Dense Food

Local food is often harvested at peak ripeness, meaning it’s fresher, more flavorful, and more nutrient-rich. Unlike produce that travels long distances, spending days (or even weeks) in transit, farmers market foods go from field to stand quickly. That freshness translates to better taste and more nourishment for you and your family.

3. You’re Eating with the Seasons

Shopping at the market naturally connects you to seasonal eating. In May, that might look like crisp greens, asparagus, radishes, herbs, and the first bursts of spring berries. Eating seasonally not only supports your body with what it needs during that time of year, but it also brings variety and inspiration back into your meals.

More Than a Market: A Weekly Ritual

The farmers’ market isn’t just a place to shop, it’s a place to gather. It’s where kids sample fresh fruit for the first time, where neighbors run into each other, and where simple conversations turn into meaningful connections.

As we return to Buttonwood Park, we invite you to make the market part of your weekly rhythm. Come walk the stands, meet your farmers, ask questions, try something new, and let the season inspire you.

Mark Your Calendars!

Our Summer Market officially kicks off Saturday, May 2nd, and will be held outdoors each week through the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with the exception of Harvest Day on September 19th.

Bring a friend, grab a coffee, and take your time exploring. Whether you’re picking up your weekly staples or just stopping by to soak in the atmosphere, you’re part of what makes this market so special.

Here’s to a season of fresh food, strong community, and Saturdays well spent. We’ll see you at the market
