February is often associated with hearts, from Valentine’s Day cards and sweet treats to American Heart Month, which reminds us to take care of the people (and bodies) we love. At the Yardley Farmers’ Market, we like to think of February as a time to show love through small, meaningful choices, especially when it comes to food and community.
Food That Supports Your Heart (and Your Life)
Heart health doesn’t require perfection or restriction. It’s built over time through simple habits: eating more whole foods, cooking at home when you can, and choosing ingredients that feel nourishing and satisfying.
At the winter market, you’ll find plenty of heart-friendly staples:
Seasonal produce, mushrooms, and microgreens to add color and tons of nutrients to meals
Whole grains and whole wheat flours for heart healthy homemade breads and comfort foods
Grass fed meats and pastured poultry and homemade prepared foods that take the guess work out of a balanced meals easier
These are the kinds of foods that support heart health not just physically, but emotionally by helping meals feel intentional, comforting, and shared.
Love Your People, Love Your Local
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about big gestures. Sometimes it’s a home-cooked meal, a favorite treat, or a cozy morning routine shared with someone you care about.
The market is a wonderful place to find:
Fresh bread and baked goods for a special breakfast
Coffee, tea, or kombucha to enjoy together
Ravioli, sauces, and prepared foods for an easy but thoughtful dinner
Sweet treats and local honey for a little indulgence
And of course, shopping at the market is also a way to show love for your community, supporting farmers, bakers, and makers who pour their hearts into what they do.
A Different Kind of Heart Health
Heart health isn’t only about what’s on your plate. It’s also about slowing down, connecting with others, and finding routines that support your well-being during the colder months.
Visiting the market, even in winter, can be part of that. A familiar rhythm. Friendly faces. A reason to get out, browse, and feel connected.
From Our Hearts to Yours
This February, we invite you to celebrate heart health in a way that feels kind, realistic, and grounded. Whether you’re shopping for weekly groceries, planning a Valentine’s meal, or simply enjoying the warmth of community, the Yardley Farmers’ Market is here for you.
Join us at our Indoor Winter Market, held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at the Lower Makefield Township Community Center, from 9:30 am–12:00 pm.
Because caring for your heart, and your community, can start with something as simple as shopping local.
